Have you already registered for the workshop? If so, welcome!

If you have paid by PayPal and sent your registration form via email to amylgilliland@charter.net, you should receive confirmation that your payment and registration have been received within one week. On rare occasions, it takes longer than one week because of Amy’s travel schedule. If you have sent your deposit and registration form via regular postal mail, you should hear from Amy within ten days of receipt of your registration. In either case, you will be sent a confirmation letter in the mail or email with the details about the training. If you do not hear from us within this time frame, please contact us again.

Thank you for your patience as we make the transition to electronic distribution of our registration materials. This keeps our costs lower and allows you to receive some items right away rather than waiting. All of these documents are in pdf format.

You will receive a confirmation letter with detailed information about your training. In the meantime, here are the rest of your registration packet materials. You will need to download three documents, while the other two are optional:

1. Pretest

The pretest may be filled out electronically on your computer or by hand. Complete instructions on where to send it and when it is due are in your confirmation letter. [Download File]

2. DONA Birth Doula Certification Requirements

This document briefly but completely outlines the requirements for certification as a birth doula from DONA International. For more detailed information about certification or to have any questions answered, please go to www.dona.org. [Download File]

3. “The Modern Role of the Professional Doula” Article by Amy L. Gilliland

This article, written when I was just beginning my research, discusses the doula’s role, how nurses and doulas get along, strategies for preventing conflict, and birth plans. It will help you to understand the perspective that doulas need to adopt to be effective and major issues that doulas face in independent practice. It is required reading before the workshop, but not for the pretest. [Download File]

4. Lodging Information (optional)

Information and suggestions for lodging in the Madison area. [Download File]

5. Written Directions to the Madison Facility (optional)

For a map, we highly recommend Google maps over any other site. Their map has major street names and a clearer indication of the address location than other map sites. [Download File]

We are sure you have some questions, but they will all probably be answered in the confirmation letter.

We look forward to seeing you at our next workshop!
